FROM THEIR WEBSITE:   In September 2001, His Grace Bishop BASIL gave his blessing to efforts to begin an Antiochian Orthodox Christian Mission in the Bryan-College Station area. Since that time we have grown to include members of many backgrounds.

St. Joseph Antiochian Orthodox Church in Houston is our mission's "mother parish." Fr. Matthew MacKay presides over the liturgy on a monthly basis ans Fr. Dcn. Gregory Gibson is our local clergy and leads the rest of the services from week to week.

The St. Silouan the Athonite Orthodox Mission celebrates the Liturgy using the Eastern (Byzantine) rite. This is the liturgical form used by the Antiochian, Greek, Russian, Serbian and other Eastern Orthodox Churches today. Much of the service is sung in Byzantine chant. Other parts of the Liturgy, such as the Nicene Creed and the Lord's Prayer, are recited by the congregation.
